What does a demolition contractor do?
A demolition contractor takes a structure down and clears away what is left. TTL Services takes down whole buildings, foundations included, and hauls the debris. When the job calls for it, we also dig or grade the lot for the next building.
What kinds of buildings do you take down?
We take down commercial buildings such as stores, offices, warehouses and parking garages. Industrial jobs include factories and old mill buildings, with their heavy concrete and steel. We also take down houses and multi-family buildings, with their garages and old foundations. Interior demolition for a renovation is a different job, and a renovation contractor is the right call for it.
Do you work for towns and counties?
Yes, and public work is most of what we do. Towns and counties put demolition jobs out for bids, and we bid on them. Past public jobs include a multi-level municipal parking garage and a church building, each with the site restored afterward. When a construction official orders an unsafe structure down after a fire or a collapse, we take that work too.
Are you licensed in New Jersey?
Yes, for commercial, industrial and residential demolition. We work only in New Jersey, and our jobs reach across the state.
How does pricing work for a demolition job?
We price each job after we look at it. The building's size and what it is built of drive the price, along with the foundation. Asbestos work and the weight of the debris move it too, and so does a tight lot. The quote comes to you in writing before any work starts.
What has to happen before a building comes down in New Jersey?
Each town's construction official issues the demolition permit under New Jersey's Uniform Construction Code. Before it issues, each utility that served the building confirms its connection is removed or sealed. The owner also confirms that asbestos that would crumble will be abated first. Towns add items of their own: Paterson's code calls for rat baiting 7 to 30 days before the demolition. The construction office in each town has the full list.
Who handles asbestos before a demolition?
The licensed asbestos abatement contractor we work with does the abatement. TTL Services runs the job as the general contractor and takes the building down after the abatement is cleared. You get one contract for asbestos abatement and demolition.
What happens to the debris after a teardown?
We sort it and haul it away in our own trucks and containers. Concrete and metal go to recycling, and the rest goes to a disposal facility. Demolition debris removal comes with every teardown we do, and we also haul construction debris for builders.
Where do you work?
Our yard is in Paterson, and our core area is North Jersey: Passaic, Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Union and Morris Counties. Public and commercial work takes us anywhere in New Jersey. See the towns and counties we serve for the full list.
